Note: I have also made this post it’s own separate page that can always be accessed up in the top right corner of the sidebar
The majority of the download links you will find on TheJortReport will direct you to my file hosting site of choice MediaFire. Once you’re there and the page is finished loading, click the “Click here to start download..” link on the left. You will be prompted to either Open or Save the file… choose Save. I always save my downloads to my desktop initially so that I know where to find them when they’re finished and then move, extract, or copy them to the necessary folder afterwards.
Now you’re probably wondering what the fuck a .rar file is. RAR is a compression format similar to ZIP. It bundles everything (mp3’s or multiple files) into a single download for ease of use. Once you have the .rar file downloaded you will need the program WinRAR to extract whatever is inside. WinRAR has become the standard for downloading across the interwebs (and also works with ZIP files, among many more) so don’t feel like you’re installing some useless program that you really don’t need. Here are links to the WinRAR trial install and a key generator (ssshhhh…) to unlock the full version:
These are direct links, not MediaFire. Save both of them and then run the WinRAR installer just as you normally would. No option changes, just click OK/Next the whole way through. Once you have installed WinRAR successfully, run winrarkg.exe, enter your name into the “Name” field and hit “Generate”. You should get a prompt saying it was successful.
With WinRAR installed, all of your .rar files should now look like a stack of colored books. You can either a) right-click and choose “Extract here…” to extract whatever is inside to the same directory the .rar file is in b) double click the .rar file and choose “Extract” and choose a separate folder to extract to. Once the extract is done, you will have the files you need inside the folder.
If it is mp3’s you downloaded, simply do “File…Add folder to Library” in iTunes and choose the folder you just extracted to add the songs to your iTunes library. If you keep all of your mp3’s organized elsewhere. Make sure you move the folder to that directory before adding them to your library. Once you’ve done all this, you can delete the .rar file from your computer.
Please feel free to bother me with any problems or questions you have at thejortreport@gmail.com.
Enjoy!
